John R. Benward

John R. Benward is the founder and president of John Benward Company, Inc. He began the company in 1979 with a vineyard tractor, pick-up truck and $600.00 cash investment. Ten years later, he incorporated the company with partner, Earl Broderick. John Benward has more than 30 years experience in the construction industry beginning with his early interest in heavy construction and design and continuing with his service in the U.S. Navy Seabees. Throughout the history of the company, he has emphasized a standard of excellence created through a team member environment. The high regard and reputation of the company in the industry is the direct result of Benward's personal commitment and leadership in motivating employees to provide the highest level of customer service through a hands-on approach. This is reflected in the company's recognition of the contributions of key, long-term employees.

John Benward has participated in all aspects of the company's business through the various stages of its growth. This includes his operating heavy equipment and serving as a foreman and project manager in the field as well as participating in day-to-day business operations such as preparing estimates, acquiring equipment and actively implementing the company's public relations and sales strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona at Tucson.

Earl G. Broderick

Earl G. Broderick serves as Partner and Vice President of Benward, a position he has held for the last 10 years. He oversees the activities of all of the company's senior managers and also supervises overall business operations for Benward. This includes hiring personnel; overseeing the financial activities of the company; managing the development of company facilities and developing new project opportunities.

A major portion of Broderick's activities are focused on the long-term growth of the company which includes managing the diversification of the company's business among the various sub-categories of general engineering construction. His particular expertise is in attention to detail and maintaining the standards of excellence that result in repeat business from the company's key client base.

As part of his daily activities, Broderick reviews project estimates and change orders and supervises the resolution of any issues that may occur on a project site. Prior to his present position, Broderick served as General Superintendent of field operations for Benward. Before joining Benward, Broderick worked as a Foreman for general engineering construction projects. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Santa Clara, Santa Clara, California.
